Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of media literacy of primary school teachers according to thevariables such as gender, age, occupational experience, aim of media literacy, frequency of watching TV, choices of TV programmes, and basic of properties of TV programmes. This study, aiming to determine the level of media literacy of primary school teachers, is a descriptive survey study. The sample of this study is composed of 427 teachers working in Keçiören district in 2012-2013 academic year. In this research, ?Media Literacy Level Determining Scale (MODBÖ)?, developed by Karataş, is used to measure media literacy level. Frequency, percentage, t-test and anova test are used for analyzing data. In our study, media literacy levels of teachers vary by age and occupational experience. While it is concluded that most of the teachers have high level of media literacy, it is observed that they could not get the message in the media text given in the programmes completely.
