Determination of the primary school teachers in service education for physical education and play lesson and model suggestion

Abstract (EN)

In this research, it was aimed to determine the problems and needs faced by primary school teachers during Physical Education and Game course process and design and apply in service education program for the teachers. The research that was designed according to multiphase mixed design from mixed research methods, was achieved in four stages; needs analysis, development, application and evaluation stages. Literature review, document analysis, semi-structured interviews with classroom teachers was carried out within the scope of the qualitative data collection tools and the datas were analyzed by content analysis. The quantitative datas of the research were collected with the Scale of the Determination Primary School Teachers in-Service Education Requirements about physical education and game course and the datas were analyzed with the statistical analysis method. After determining the current situation and the needs of the teachers for the physical education and game course, Physical Education and Game course in-service education program was designed. The designed curriculum was applied to 25 primary school teachers in the 2019-2020 academic year. Before and after the application, semi-structured interviews were achieved with the primary school teachers for the in-service education program, and the datas were analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the evaluation, it was concluded that the skills targeted in the in-service training program were acquired and the program implemented in the course was positive, fun, efficient and sufficient in terms of content by the primary school teachers.
