Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to reveal the competences of classroom teachers regarding educational music repertoire. The research was carried out using the survey technique within the framework of descriptive method. The population of the research consists of classroom teachers working under the Ministry of National Education, and the sample consists of a total of 223 classroom teachers working in the Erbaa district of Tokat province in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the study, in order to determine the competences of classroom teachers regarding educational music repertoire, the educational music competence questionnaire developed by Yokuş, Önk Avşar and Üstün after a literature review was used. The data obtained were evaluated with arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t test and ANOVA. As a result of the research, the competence levels of the classroom teachers constituting the study group towards educational music repertoire were found to be at a low level. Classroom teachers' competencies related to educational music repertoire were also analysed according to demographic characteristics. When the results of the research were analysed, no significant difference was found in all sub-dimensions according to gender and whether they changed their branch or not, whereas significant differences were found in age, graduation, education, experience, career level, status and instrument playing status. In line with the findings obtained from the research, some suggestions have been developed such as the fact that the music lessons in primary schools should be taught by branch teachers will produce more positive results, the undergraduate education of classroom teachers should be revised and updated, and music lessons should be increased. It was also emphasised that each school needs an equipped music classroom and more materials should be used in lessons. Enriching the content of music textbooks in primary schools was seen as an important step, and it was thought that the active use of smart boards in music lessons would have positive results on children.
