Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the subject matter knowledge of the classroom teachers related geometric objects.For this purpose, ıt was studied that the teachers identify, define and exemplify their definitios of geometric objects.In this study to find out the case of the teachers' subject matter knowledge related to geometric objects, as a research method, the qualittative research method was used and the holistic multi-case design of the sample event (case) was used as a research design which is one of the qualitative research method designs. The study group of this study consists of four classroom teachers. These class teachers are class teachers working in a public school in Etimesgut district of Ankara province in 2015-2016 academic year.In the process of the selection of the study group, the easily accessible case exemplification technique which is one of the non-probability exemplification techniques was used.This easily accessible case exemplification was achieved by selecting the class teachers teaching different classes.In the study, each teachers was interviewed with the aim of examining their subject matter knowledge related to you geometric objects in-depth. The interview was conducted face to face. In this study, descriptive analysis method was used for data analysis. The data obtained as a result of the interview and observation were transferred to the computer environment as much as possible depending on the tone, mimics and words of the interviewed and observed. The documents obtained from these decipherments provided the raw data for the descriptive analysis and interpreted. Teachers' identification and exemplification of geometric objects were examined with accessibility, accuracy, wealth and generalization criteria in the direction suggested by Zaskis and Leikin. With the help of these criteria, it is possible to describe whether the definition and sampling can be done correctly, as well as the response processes of the participants and the quality of the definitions and examples. As a result of the research, it was observed that the case of the teachers' subject matter related to the geometric objects such as prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone and under the direction of this case, it was also observed that the teachers have problems in identifying, defining and exemplifying their definitions.
