Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to define the level of self efficacy beliefs on teaching profession by the Department of Primary School Teaching students and to present whether there is a significant difference in self efficacy beliefs in terms of independent variables or not. The population of the study is composed of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th-year students studying in Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Education the Department of Primary School Teaching in 2012-2013 academic year. Descriptive survey model is used in the study. As a data collecting instrument, a demographic information form and "Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale" which was developed by Tschannen-Moran & Hoy (2001) and adapted to Turkish by Çakıroğlu &Sarıkaya (2005) were used. The data of pre-service teachers' demographic information were analyzed to find frequency and percentage; in addition, averages and standard deviations of self efficacy beliefs were calculated. The comparison between the averages from the scale and the variables such as gender, grade, school of graduation, willingness to get graduate education, academic achievement level was done using T-test, one-way analysis of variance and Kruskal Walls Test. The collected data was analyzed via SPSS 15.0 and level of significance is 0.05. According to the results of the study, the pre-service teachers' leves of self efficacy are "quite sufficient". It was defined that there is no significant difference between the self efficacy beliefs on teaching profession and the gender, grade, school of graduation, academic achievement level of the pre-service Primary School Teaching students. However, there is a significant difference in the variable of willingness to get graduate education.
