Examining the effect of the root values education program prepared in the context of class guidance program on value perception: The case of Arifiye Anadolu İmam Hatip High School

In this study, it is tested whether the activity plan prepared in the context of root values applied to imam hatip high school students has an effect on students' value perceptions. It is examined whether the activities prepared to improve the value perceptions of the students have a positive effect on their value perceptions. In this study, in which explanatory sequential mixed design was used, 11th grade students studying at Arifiye Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in Sakarya province in the 2024-2025 academic year were studied. The experimental group consisted of 14 female students and the control group consisted of 12 female students. The application was carried out between January 2025 and April 2025. At the end of the research, it was found that there was no significant difference between the pre-test scores of the experimental and control groups in the Human Values Scale, but according to the post-test measurements, the groups showed a significant difference in favor of the experimental group in the sub-dimensions of responsibility, honesty and tolerance. As a result of the focus group interview with the experimental group, the themes of the meaning of values for students, the power extending from the inside out: the value journey, the importance of values education and the values emphasized, the morality of behavior in daily life, individual values and consistent self, building a common future: living together with social values, and general opinion on value development activities emerged. The data obtained revealed that values education should be structured with a needs-based and holistic approach in the design and delivery of values education.
