Abstract (EN)
It is known that there are structural and performing differences between Traditional Turkish Folk Music (TTFM) and Traditional Turkish Art Music (TTAM). It is a common view that despite these differences, there are some similarities in these two traditional music forms in point of melodic and rhythmical characteristics and also they stem from the same origin. Depending upon this view, a number of scientific investigations were made to identify the relationship between TTFM and TTAM and terminological problems was determined. It can be easily said that the most important one of the terminological problems is the Melodic Pattern concept arising in 1950s and used in TTFM for refering to scale versus Mode. In investigations, suggestions for naming TTFM scale are offered such as maqam, scale of maqam or only name of maqam instead of melodic pattern concept. The aim of this study is to solve the concept confusion by comparing quantitative data received from the scales of TTFM and TTAM. Relational Scan Model depending on determining relation by using correlation was used as a method. Repertoire of TRT, TFM, and TAM, oral works in the form of songs and ballads was used to get quantitative data. Among the data in the form of songs and ballads relation was statistically searched according to correlation and meaningfulness level. As a result, to maqamic analysis model, basing on quantitative data it is determined that quantitative data obtained from the scales of TTAM is in a paralel direction with qualitative data and TTFM is a maqamic music and and also the scales of TTFM can be expressed with the only name of maqam or with the scale of maqam.
