Abstract (EN)

7. SUMMARYBACKGROUNDHeart rate variability, a marker of cardiac autonomic activity and an important measure in many conditions, including heart failure, which is an independent predictor of prognosis information. Right ventricular function is known to be one of the most important determinants of mortality and morbidity. In the previous studies in patients with low left ventricular systolic function, right ventricular dysfunction was shown to be an independent predictor of mortality. There is no study in world literature showing the relationship between heart rate variability and echocardiographically observed right ventricular function in patients with left systolic dysfunction. Purpose of our study is to comparise patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction with normal healthy individuals, and to investigate the effects of right ventricular function on heart rate variability.MATERIAL-METHODSThe study followed in 60 patients were between 20-75 years of age (42 male,18 female) with diagnosed heart failure, under optimal medical therapy according to the ESC manual NYHA Class II-III, left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVEF <40%) in Çanakkale 18 Mart University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiology. The control group of 30 healthy subjects were included in the non-heart failure (16 male, 14 female). These two groups were compared in terms of the right ventricular echocardiographic parameters and heart rate variability.RESULTSThere is no statistical difference between control group and lower TAPSE value group in the change of heart rate.CONCLUSIONRight heart function in patients with heart failure, diabetes, and heart rate were positively correlated with parameters of change. With this study, measurement of right ventricular function with TAPSE in diabetic patients with low ejection fraction, will help to predict heart rate variability and the disease prognosis.
