Abstract (EN)
Aim: To determine the resistance rates to various antimicrobial agents in 146 H.influenzae isolated from various clinical upper respiratory tract samples at Çukurova University, Balcali Hospital, Central LaboratoryMaterials and Methods: Susceptibility to ampicillin (Amp), ampicillin-sulbactam(SAM), cefprozil(CPR), cefotaxime (CTX), meropenem(MEM), Claritromicine(CLR), trimetoprim sulfametoksazol (T/S), ciprofloxacin(CIP), tetracycline(TET), imipenem(IPM), sefaclor(SFC) were determined in Haemophilus Test Medium by disc diffusion method according to CLSI criteria. Results:Haemophilus Influenzae strains were isolated from, 133 sputum, 13 bronchoalveolar lavage, samples. Resistance to ampicillin, ampicillin-sulbactam, cefprozil, cefotaxime, meropenem, claritromicin, trimetoprim sulfametoksazol, ciprofloxacin, tetracycline, imipenem, sefaclor rates were %20,%11, %12, %8, %7, %10, %29, %8, %10, %7,%15 respectively. 92 strains were susceptible to all of antibiotics used in the study. 130 strains resulted in type b, 6 strains resulted in type a, 6 strain resulted in type c, 4 strain resulted in type f were identified as a group. Conclusion: Resistance rates by year are very important for the clinicians employing empirical therapy in URT infections. In this study, the highest resistance rate was observed for T/S. Diversity in resistance rates according to year was observed. However, a steady increase and decrease in resistance rates was not shown. Keywords: Haemophilus Influenzae, Resistance, Antimicrobial.
