Abstract (EN)
Aim: It is known that there is an effect of somatotype body characters on biomotor performance scores. However, when sport branches which have different energy metabolism examined, literature shows that there are different ideas. Application of both aerobic and anaerobic tests to the different somatotype characters and physical activities would produce reliable data and contribute to the field. In this context, the aim of this study is to investigate the effects of different somatotype characters on some motoric performance test scores. Material and Method: This study was performed on 56 female and 150 male participants who do not have habit of regular exercise. The anthropometric measurements of participants were determined by Heath-Carter formula. As motor performance tests 30 m sprint, counter movement jump, wingate anaerobic power, Yo Yo intermittent recovery test, hand-grip strength, and flexibility (sit and reach) were measured. Results: In this study female and male participants who had mesomorph body type showed better scores than the ones with other three body types in terms of flexibility, hand grip-left and hand grip-right performance scores. But the difference was not found statistically significant (p>0.005). A statistically significant difference was found in aerobic capacity scores. These scores were higher in females with ectomorphic body type (p=0.003) but for male participants the higher performance was seen with mesomophic body type (=0.000). In the other hand, a similar significant difference was also found in anaerobic capacity scores. The females with mesomorphic body type showed higher scores (p=0.038) but for male participants the higher performance was seen with endomophic body type (=0.013). Conclusion: As result, in terms of biomotor performance scores, we found a statistically significant difference in the male and female groups according to their body types. For each kind of test performed in this study, the higher scores were obtained with different body types. Moreover, we determined that the relative power and capacity of WAnT which is used to measure both anaerobic power and capacity must be evaluated in addition to absolute power and capacity.
