Evaluation of intangible cultural heritage in tourism: Gazipaşa sample

Today, with the development of technology, people have moved away from their own culture and started to find themselves in a culture that does not belong to them.But culture forms the identity and self of a society.They take the most important role as a building block in building cultural identities of societies in intangible cultural heritage.With the development of technology, intangible cultural heritage hasgradually begun to be forgotten in Turkey as in the worldand have been faced with the danger of extinction. UNESCO adopted "Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage" in a conference held in Paris in 2003. This agreement was adopted in 2006 in Turkey.With this important event, Turkey has stepped into a new era in the protection of intangible cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.In addition to transferring intangible cultural heritage to future generations, the answer to the question of how we can usethis heritage in the field of tourism has been searched.The reason is that every cultural element is a tourist product in the tourism sector.Intangible cultural heritage is also seen as a touristic product because it consists of cultures of societies.As in every touristic product, the curiosity of people for different cultures in the world have gradually increased.The aim of this study is to unearth the intangible cultural heritage of Gazipaşa, a district of Antalya Province, to transfer it to the future generations and to offer them to tourism.Thus, as in all over the world, Gazipaşa is also expected to receive the share it deserves from cultural tourism.Interview method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. Data was obtained by applying semi-structured interview form to interviewers. The data was analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique.As a result of the analyzes, suggestions were offered about how to evaluate the intangible cultural heritage of Gazipaşa in the field of tourism.
