Abstract (EN)

This research has two purposes. One of the purposes examines the role of socio-demographic characteristics (age and marital status) and meaning in life (search for meaning and existence of meaning) in posttraumatic growth in individuals who have experienced loss in the last 5 years. The other aim of the study to investigate whether post-traumatic growth differs according to attachment styles (secure-insecure) and some variables (gender, time since loss, receiving psychological/psychiatric support) For this purpose, 95 (77 female and 18 male ) people over the age of 18 participated in the research. In the scope of this research, Demographic Information Form, Post-traumatic Growth Scale, Relationship Scales Questionnaire and scale of meaning in life were used. In the study, whether post-traumatic growth differs according to various variables was examined by t-test. The predictors of post-traumatic growth were tested with hierarchical regression analysis. Although there is a positive relationship between post-traumatic growth and age, it has been determined that age does not predict post-traumatic growth. There is a statistically significant relationship between posttraumatic growth and marital status, and marital status predicts posttraumatic growth. In addition, it has been determined that the existence of meaning in life and the search for meaning in life predict traumatic growth. The findings obtained from the research were discussed within the scope of the literature. Suggestions were made to researchers and practitioners working with people who have lost their lives for future research. Key Words: Mourning, Post-Traumatic Growth, Attachment, Meaning in Life
