The conception of ahl al-sunnah at the sight of a late Ottoman scholar M. Zâhid Kawtharî and his point of view regarding the sections

Abstract (EN)
Mohammad Zâhid Kawtharî is one of the most prominent scholar whom the Ottoman Empire brought in the Islamic world at its last period. Kawtharî, who is a Circassian originally from Caucasia was born in Duzce in 1296/1879. Begining from his childhood, Kawtharî getting Islamic education had exam of Islamic erudition after getting all required sciences and he got the certificate at 28 years old by passing this exam. After that he tought in various positions, continued his teaching life at Egypt dating from 1922 and died in 1371/1952.As a Sunni scholar Kawtharî explained his views by writing seveal books articles and inturoductions. When we examine his works, we see that he conceptiolized Ahl Al-Sunnah as Ahl Al-Hakk. Yet, this concept is totally different from the section of Ahl Al-Hakk mentioned in the sources of The History of Islamic Sects. Kewseri used expression of Ahl Al-Hakk in order to state that he is against Ahl Al-Bid?at, thus he explained his conception of Ahl Al-Sunnah. When we research his conception of Ahl Al-Sunnah, we understand he is highlighting like these points: Importance of deanthropomorphism, volition and freedom of volition, religious position of prophet?s parents, descent of Jesus, intercession (tewessul) and entreaty, the abiding of heaven and hell, being Kurasiyyun of caliphate, respect to the tradition and even to be against modernism.After comprehending his understanding of Ahl Al-Sunnah, being aware of his thoughts concerning to the other Schools of Belief is of the great importance. According to Kawthari, the variety of factors such as Ridda Wars, the doings of the evil-disposed persons, the interpretations of the inexperts regarding the Al-Mutashâbih subjects, the continuous existence of the Jahiliyyah mentality, the encounter with different cultures, the issues of Abdullah Ibn-al-Saba triggered the emergence of the sects. In this thesis, after generally given the reasons of the emergence of the sects, it is aimed to determine his standpoints, critics and regards concerning Schools of Belief emerging within Islam.
