In this study, first of all finite element method has been described.Properties and the basic concept of the method has beenexamined. In the second part of the study, the structure of thewaveguides has been expressed and for rectangular structuresderivation of field expressions, cut off frequency, wave numberand the impedance has been pointed out. Also scalar formulationfor homogeneous and inhomogeneous and waveguides havebeen produced. The computer programmes have been applied forthe expressions and the obtained values were compared withanalytical values. As a result of this comparison, the numericalvalues and the analytical values are close to each other.
