Özet (EN)
The purpose of this work is to discuss the connection between the consumption society and Social Media which comes into prominence day by day in terms of both its prevalence and its integration into daily life. In this context, the development of consummatory behaviour, one of the most basic life practices of humankind throughout history, is analysed within its historical process and, the relationship between consumption and the formation of social status is exposed. Then, what social media includes in its extent is discussed with its pros and cons. As for the research section, Facebook, being one of the most widespread applications of social media and containing all features of social media within, is analysed by using categorical content analysis method, interlinking the elements within its content and the consummatory behaviour of the individuals.
