Artistic activities implemented in information houses in the context of social municipality: The example of the Kocaeli guide youth model

This research was carried out to examine "Artistic Activities Applied in Bilgievleri". The population of the research is the Information Houses operating in Kocaeli province and covers the artistic activities that will be carried out in the 2023-2024 academic year. In the context of social municipalism, Bilgievleri is an educational institution established for children to spend their time productively outside of school, in order to stay away from bad habits and environments. In addition, it offers a social space where children can discover and develop their skills in an informal education environment by participating in both course activities and workshop activities within the institution. It is an important organization that ensures that education is not just about transferring information, but also provides students with the opportunity to learn by trying, experiencing and seeing. In Kocaeli, there are 17 Information Centers operating under the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Guide Youth Model. Each organization operates in line with common goals according to the situation of the district in which it is located. With the study to be carried out, firstly information will be given about the general scheme of Bilgievler. Information about the establishment of Bilgievleri in Kocaeli will be gathered and its aims and objectives will be explained in line with the vision and mission. The administrators of 17 Information Houses operating in Kocaeli and the units working in the Kocaeli Youth and Sports Services Department, Youth Education Branch Directorate will be interviewed and data about their general functioning will be collected. In line with the information received, research will be carried out on the artistic activities carried out. The case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, will be applied in the research. Starting from a historical perspective, a comprehensive literature review will be conducted from the Abbasid period House of Wisdom to the Ottoman social service organizations and the concept of social municipality in modern Turkey. This study examines how social service concepts in different periods influenced each other and the historical foundations of today's youth projects. Additionally, comparative analysis will be made with youth service practices in countries that adopt social welfare models such as Finland, the Netherlands, Germany and Canada. When the studies carried out in the province of Kocaeli in terms of information houses are examined, no scientific article explaining the full functioning of the information centers could be found. It is aimed to contribute to the literature in order to be a resource for scientists who will work on Bilgievler in Kocaeli in the future. Besides this purpose, what are the artistic activities carried out by Bilgievleri in Kocaeli? The question will be examined. With this research, both the Information Houses will be examined under the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Guide Youth Model and the artistic activities carried out will be investigated and will be the first literature study.
