Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the places of memory spaces in 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th class social studies textbooks. A qualitative approach was followed in the research process. In this context, the case study method is used. The "Memory Space Course Book Review Form" developed by the researcher was used as data collection tool in the research process. The universe of study, elementary social studies in Turkey taught in classes and creating all social studies textbooks distributed by the Ministry of Education, sample of the 2017-2018 academic year in Kastamonu elementary distributed by the Ministry of Provincial 4, 5, 6 and 7th grade social studies constitute textbooks. The data obtained within the scope of the study were analyzed with the help of SPSS 24.0, frequency tables were used. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the most memory space is included in the 7th grade social studies textbook and at least memory space is included in the 5th grade social studies textbook. When we examine the results for the memory space categories, it has been determined that the memory space that is most used in the social studies textbooks is the material-national memory spaces and the minimum memory space is the intellectual-memory spaces. As a result of research, it has been revealed that the most important deficiency in the qualities of memory spaces included in social studies textbooks is that most of the memory spaces are given only the name.
