Developing the position and coordinate determination skill in social sciences course

Aim of this study is to develop the position and coordinate determination skills of students in social sciences course in second class of primary education.Research was performed in experimental pattern model. In the research, achievement test was used as data collection instrument. Developed evaluation instrument was applied to 42 students in 6th class of ?ht. Üst. Nevzat ALTUNTA? Primary School in Çiftlik, County Sarıoğlan, Province Kayseri. In order to analyze the sub-problems of the research, Mann Whitney U Test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were applied; frequency, percentage and arithmetic average values were used.According to the results of the research, it has been found that there is significant difference in favor of posttest achievement scores between pretest-posttest scores in position and coordinate skills determination test of experiment group in which constructivist approach was supported by computer-aided training and active learning activities.It has been found that there is significant difference in favor of posttest achievement scores between pretest-posttest scores in position and coordinate skills determination test of control group in which only constructivist approach was applied.It has been found that there is significant difference in favor of experiment group in terms of achievements of position and coordinate determination skills test between experiment group in which constructivist approach was applied by being supported by computer-aided training and active learning activities and control group in which only constructivist approach was applied.Key Words: Social Sciences Education, Position and Coordinate Determination, Computer-aided Training, Matching Card.
