Abstract (EN)
Purpose: This research aimed to obtain student opinions about teaching socioscientific issues with digital stories in the social studies course. Method: The research was carried out using phenomenology, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group consists of 5th grade students attending a state school in Elazığ during the 2023-2024 academic year. The students in the study group, consisting of 7 female and 15 male students, were selected by the easily accessible sampling method. In the research, digital stories on socioscientific issues were created for students and shared with them. In the study, a focus group interview was held to collect data and get the opinions of the students. The data obtained was analyzed with content analysis. Findings: In the study, it was determined that the majority of students were positive about the use of digital stories. It was determined that the majority of students increased their participation in class with digital stories and did not experience any difficulties. It has been determined that students say that digital stories can be used in all lessons and all social studies subjects. It was determined that students stated that digital stories could be used not only at school but also in different places and fields. Result: It was concluded that students' digital stories contributed to a better understanding of the subjects and increased course participation. It has been concluded that students find it interesting and eye-catching and that it can be used in all courses and subjects. It has been concluded that it may be more effective if students create digital stories themselves. Key Words: Social studies, social studies teaching, socioscientific issues, digital stories.
