Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study is to determine at what level the achievements of the Geography discipline found in the learning field of "People, Places and Environments" in the 5th and 6th grade Social Studies lesson correspond to the selected stories. The universe of the research consists of stories for children that include topics related to the discipline of Geography. Two stories named "Mucizevi Örtü: Toprak" and "Coşkun Nehirler" were chosen as samples. Selected stories were analyzed by document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. The obtained data was analyzed by descriptive analysis method. As a result of the research, it was seen that the chosen stories included the narratives that were in parallel with the learning field of "People, Places and Environments" in the 5th and 6th grade Social Studies lesson. In addition, it was determined that the stories were decorated with examples and caricatures that could increase the general geography knowledge of the students. At the end of the study, it was suggested to increase the number of similar stories and to add the reading passages obtained from these stories to the textbooks.
