Comparative analysis of success and assertiveness levels of students education of social science

The relationship between the personal knowledge, success and assertiveness levels of university students has been studied in this research. Personal knowledge of the students constitutes the independent variable of the research, while success and assertiveness levels of students constitute the dependent variable of the research. Descriptive method has been used in this research. Research universe is formed by 421 students (239 male and 182 female) attending Faculty of Education Primary Education Department Division Education of Social Science in Celal Bayar University. Sampling of the research is formed by 333 students (181 male and 152 female) attending Faculty of Education Primary Education Department Division of Social Studies Education in Celal Bayar University. Rathus Assertiveness Schedule and personal knowledge form have been used to collect the research data. Obtained findings resulted from the statistical processes are as follows: It is seen that class, monthly income of the student, education level of father, housing of the family and monthly income of the family are factors effecting assertiveness of the student. On the other hand, factors like education level, gender, number of brothers and sisters, education level of the mother and geographic region where the family lives in do not effect students? assertiveness level. It is seen that class, gender and monthly income of the family are factors that effect students success levels. However, factors like education level (I. or II. education) , monthly income of the student, number of brothers and sisters education level of the mother and housing of the family do not effect the success level of students. It is noted that there is not a significant correlation between assertiveness and success levels of the students. Key Words: Assertiveness, success, student.
