Outdoor school environmental education in social sciences

Today?s ?Structural Teaching Method? is based on student-centralized insted of old method of instructor-centralised. The main goal of this application is to give an active role to the students an education/teaching process. To achieve this aim, curiosity and desire perceptions of the student must be revived. It?s a well known fact that, students undertake much active role on the subject which attract their curiosity and wish feelings. Fort his reason, every subject of education has to be designed on the way to be attractive for the students. The most lasting applications on learning are the ones based on self practices? of the individuals in the outdoor; by doing, living, sensing and teaching. Fort his reason, the subjects that are worked up by travelling, observing and doing facilitate learning procedure more than the case, subjects are discussed in classrooms by only listening, reading and writing.This thesis which offers an outdoor training model for primary school teachers and students has been prepared on the light of above mentioned facts. The thesis aims to popularize the science by outdoor trainings such as observations, travelling and by self-practising. By this way, the students will realise the senthsis character of the nature so that all the objects in the environment are related with each other. Determination of the observation points on the nature and subjects that will be discussed on these locations are related with the units which are mentioned in the curriculum of primary school books of Ministry of Education of Turkey. In addition, offered outdoor visits of the curriculum are covered by museum and factory visits in the thessis. The overall aim of this study is to prepare an outdoor ecology based training about Bilecik and its surroundings for primary school teachers (social science teachers).The model of this thessis tries to teach a large synthesis that, in the first place; the soil, flora, fauna and rock types and as well as the processes of these subjects in Bilecik city and its environment are related with each other-effecting and being effected each other and in the second place, agricultural, economical activities/ products of the region are also closely related with the historical, cultural and archaelogical values.Key Words: Outdoor School Environmental Education, Social Science, Effective Learning
