A study on Turkish world attitudes and values among prospective Social Studies teachers

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes and awareness of prospective social studies teachers towards the Turkic world. The scope of the study includes determining the attitudes of prospective social studies teachers about the Turkish world and identifying the existing deficiencies. It is thought that this study will serve as a compass in the education of pre-service teachers and in the development of pre-service teachers' attitudes towards the Turkish world motion by determining the reasons for the deficiencies identified for the future periods, and for this reason, it is thought that it will contribute to the literature and the Turkish world education process. Within the scope of the research, regarding usefulness and accessibility, 205 students were chosen from the 1-2-3-4th grade students studying social studies teaching at Akdeniz University and Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, representing the social studies education students, which is the universe of the study. The sample consisted of 205 students who are social studies education students studying in the 2022-2023 education and training period. In this study, survey was used which is one of the quantitative research methods. In order to collect the data, the "Turkish World Attitude Scale" developed by Akın et al. (2017) was used along with the demographic variables such as "gender, age, class level, frequency of reading books and the status of the place of residence". During the data collection process, the scales were applied to pre-service social studies teachers online via Google Forms. In line with the responses of pre-service social studies teachers to the Turkish World Attitude Scale, it was concluded that there was no significant difference in the overall and sub-dimensions of the scale in terms of the place of residence of the individuals.
