Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study is to determine the level of argument that the prospective teachers have in the context of the argumentation and responsibilities in the teaching of Social Studies. Research is preferred from research qualitative research methods. Study group of the study, Kastamonu University the spring semester of the academic year 2015-2016 2. students who are studying in Class 7 male, 5 female students was carried out with the voluntary participation of a total of 12. Three different scenarios were prepared by applying the pre-interview form to the created research group, one of which is appropriate for the argumentation process and the preliminary application about the rights and responsibilities developed by the researcher. 2 hours a week for 5 weeks was administered. The data sources for the research is taken and the lessons to record video and audio. According to the problematic situation of the research, the level of the arguments created by the prospective teachers were classified according to the Toulmin Argument Model and then evaluated according to Simon, Osborne's "Argumentation Levels Model". Each event followed a semi-structured interview form. The data of the video and audio recordings that have been written are evaluated independently by two researchers. Obtained from the findings of the research; The participants reached Level 1 at the lowest level, Level 5 at the top level. It has been reached that the arguments about argumentation are clear, that they have acquired creative thinking skills, that the argument given in the argumentation process is up-to-date and that the debate produces better quality arguments and that teacher candidates are not successful in making claims but refuting others' ideas. Teacher candidates participating in this study find out the components of the argument and show that they have a better understanding of the role of argumentation in the activities. In institutions that produce teachers to create better quality arguments, appropriate environments for the argumentation method should be established and it is suggested that the activities based on the argumentation are applied in different branches.
