Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is identifying the views of social studies teachers with their attitude of the teaching profession,their expectations and interests, gender, the type of school they graduated, the profession of father,the mother's employment status, parents? educational status,families? monthly income and the residential area which the families live in. It was observed that whether there were any significant differences according to these variables or not.This research is a descriptive based patterned research, a total of eight independent variable consisting of 40 attitude statements with the level form were administrated. For data analysis SPSS 17.0 (Statistical Parckages for Social Sciences) software package was used.The participants of the research is undergraduate students of social studies education faculties in Turkey.The samples consist of the fourth grade social studies students. Total of 150 teacher candidates were surveyed.After analyzing the data,it was observed that there was a significant difference in candidates? attitude toward the teaching profession and their family residence.In other independent variables of teacher candidates attitudes, expectations and interest levels did not differ significantly.
