Comparison of social studies teacher candidates tendency level towards political issues and their attitudes towards controversial issues

The study, which was carried out to compare the tendency levels of the social studies teacher candidates towards policy issues and their attitudes towards controversial issues, 408 Education affiliated to universities in Afyonkarahisar, Aydın, Denizli, İzmir, Manisa, Muğla and Uşak provinces in the Aegean Region in 2019-2020 academic year. faculty was carried out through the Social Studies teacher candidate. In the research, "The Scale of Determining the Trends of Social Studies Teacher Candidates towards Policy Issues" developed by Akhan (2011) and the "Controversial Issues Scale for Social Studies Teacher Candidates" developed by Alagoz (2014) were used As a result of the research, the tendency level of men is higher than women, the level of tendency of participants aged 26 and over is higher than the other teacher candidates, the level of tendency of people living in urban areas to political issues is higher than that of rural residents, and the subjects whose mothers are university graduates. trend levels were found to be higher than other participants. In addition, it was determined that the participants who have graduates of high school and university have higher levels of tendency towards politics, policy tendency, following political issues, and interest in politics than other participants. However, the level of attitudes towards controversial subjects of women participants is higher than those of rural residents, and attitude levels of controversial subjects towards controversial subjects are higher than those whose mothers are high school and university graduates. It has been determined that the participants who have high school and university graduates have higher levels of attitude towards discussion and controversial issues with sub-dimensions of attitude scale towards controversial issues, right to discussion and questioning, professional attainment, attitudes towards questions and problems.
