Abstract (EN)
In recent years, the rapid increase in the number of schools has made the coordination compulsory among these schools. The increase in information, methods and techniques which Educational Sciences offers the teachers has required them to be learned at work. The increase of the principles and rules arranged by law and regulations in the field of education has brought the need of monitoring whether the schools are actually run in accordance with those. All of these tasks such as coordinating, on-the-job training, guiding the teachers, monitoring the functioning have made education inspectors? being charged compulsory as well as the need of education management (Başaran, 1999). It can be said that the importance of perceptions the education inspectors created on teachers is increasing every passing day as well as the qualifications they need to have in order to fulfill these tasks effectively. This study has been prepared in order to determine the points of view of social studies teachers on education inspectors? inspection and guidance activities. The teacher?s views concerning the inspectors? behaviours during the implementation of lesson inspection, guidance, vocational assistance and on-the-job training have been presented by using descriptive survey model. On the other hand, it has been intended to determine whether there is a significant differentiation among the points of view of social studies teachers according to their gender, age, seniority, graduation branches, the number of inspections they experienced, the working period at the current school, the number of in-service training courses and seminars and the settlement of the schools where they work. In this study, "Views of Social Studies Teachers concerning Lesson Inspection Scale" developed by Yıldırım (2007) was applied. The data obtained from the application were analyzed by employing SPSS 13 software. The frequency, distribution of percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation of the data were calculated and independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used for the analyses and interpretation of the data. This study has been conducted with 106 social studies teachers working at primary schools in the city center, districts and villages of Kastamonu in 2010-2011 academic year. Within the scope of sub-problems subjecting to the study, the social studies teachers? views concerning the inspectors? behaviours during the implementation of lesson inspection, guidance, vocational assistance and on-the-job training were evaluated in three dimensions. In consequence of this evaluation, it was seen that the teachers partially approve the inspection and guidance activities undertaken by inspectors. While the teachers? view shows statistically significant differentiation between guidance and professional help according to their seniority, their points of view do not show statistically significant differentiation according to other independent variables.
