Methods/techniques used by social sciences teachers and problems they faced

Education techniques seen as the most important component of the todays education system which provides a communication environment between students and teachers is one of the most important topic of the education sciences. Recently, number of research on this area have been increased. One of the main reasons for this increase is that in order to transfer knowledge for a teacher to his student, method or technique used has great importance. Using of these methods and techniques surely will provide communication between student-teacher and increase the quality of education.Our country?s education system has been subjected to a great reform period at last two decades. As a part of this change period, social knowledges teaching is continuously developing, and many scientific research have been performed to develop novel and effective techniques. In this research, it is aimed to evaluate methods/techniques used by social sciences teachers and issues during using of them. For this aim, in Kütahya region 117 social knowledges teachers were subjected to survey, afterwards, issues they have at the using of them were evaluated.In conclusion, social science course teachers expressed that they generally use teacher based method/techniques and they did not take enough pre-vacational education and do not take vacational education on this topic. The main problems they faced as using of methods/techniques they expressed were lack of course time, high levels of anxiety of students on examinations, high number of students per a class and economical problems.Key Words: Social Knowledges; Techniques; Methods; Issues.
