Social science teaches' opinions on the Turkish education system: Current problems and suggested solutions (Mardin provincial example)

The experiences of social sciences should be transferred to new generations in order to raise healthy individuals who understand the individual and the social structure, can live together. This work; It is aimed to present solutions by examining the current problems related to social studies education from the eyes of social studies teachers. The reason for the research is that the opinions of social studies teachers and their solution proposals shed light on the existing problems in terms of evaluating the problems related to the Turkish Education System's social studies course and producing solutions. Qualitative design was used in the research since it was aimed to reveal current or future problems. The study group of the research consists of 50 Social Studies teachers who work in primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the province of Mardin and are selected according to their accessibility. Discourse analysis and content analysis techniques from qualitative research approaches were used. In the discourse analysis, the views were examined in depth and in some cases a critical perspective was used, while in the content analysis, the general tendencies and views in the research were presented descriptively. According to the results of the research, it is seen that the school affects the readiness and motivation of the student, the genetic/mental status of the student, how the parent directs the student, the financial conditions of the child are directly proportional to the education, and the environment in which the student grows up is effective. The student's access to helpful resources is another factor affecting success. Most of the teachers stated that the textbooks were not printed with high quality. It was concluded that parents' attitudes and socio-economic conditions are important, education awareness should be created in parents, parents should cooperate with the school and family visits should be increased. During the lesson, teachers; They frequently use the smart board, question-answer method and presentation method. Schools should be supported physically, in line with the curriculum, and a budget should be allocated to schools. While designing the education system, all professions should be discussed and arrangements should be made in accordance with the needs. All levels of the education system; teachers' opinions should be arranged in line with their feedback.
