The effect of teaching migration through drama method on the academic success in social stdies

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of drama method in teaching `migration? which is a part of the chapter: ` Population in our country? in the curriculum of seventh grade in social studies course on the academic success of students.The research was conducted in the experimental design model. An achievement test was used in the research as a data collection tool. The assessment instrument developed was implemented in Demirlibahçe Primary School by considering the performance of sixty-five students. Two-way analysis of variance was applied and also the values such as frequency, percentage and arithmetic mean were calculated in the process of solving the base issues of research.A significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test total achievement marks of experiment and control group in migration test regarding pre-experimental and post-experimental processes. There is a significant difference between the average pre-test and post-test migration test achievement marks of students.It can be stated that the achievement marks of experiment and control group students to whom two seperate teaching models were applied show considerable difference when pre-experimental and post-experimental stages are reviewed in detail. In other words, it was found that the combined effects of the factors such as being in different process groups and repeated measures on the achievement level of migration test is meaningful.Students in the experiment group indicated that teaching the course by drama method has left positive impressions in terms of durability of the subject. It has also been stated that teaching the course by the help of drama method makes the lessons more enjoyable. On the other , the existence of noise in the study environment and the negative effects of groupwork were defined as the boundedness of the method.
