Examination of social work academicians views and opinions about military social work

Purpose: The purpose of this study to examine the social work academicians views and opinions about military social work. Materials and Methods: This study is a quantitative method research which is structured with full counting method with social work academicians working in universities which provide social work education at least undergraduate level depend on Council on Higher Education. Participants consisted of 131 participants who agreed to participate in the study on a voluntary basis and the data were collected through a survey that was structured by researcher. In this context, in addition to socio-demographic information of participants, questions were asked to measure the opinions of military social work. The data of study was obtained between March 15 - June 15 and the data processing and analysis phase was done by SPSS 22.0. Findings: Although a significant portion of the participants had some ethical concerns regarding the military social work, the majority of those with 93% described this field is important. However, it is understood that 89% of the participants defined their level of knowledge about military social work as inadequate and under-sufficient. 87% of the participants have a positive attitude to military social work play a part of social work education. Result: The discipline of social work aims to improve the well-being of the human being and threfore should be wherever it is. For the existence and development of military social work, it is important that the social work academicians take action and military social work take part of social work education.
