Social and cultural dimension of Ephemera

Ephemera are sources of information that carry information of social and cultural life to the present in various ways, contribute many fields as cultural heritage, organizational and public memory and oral/local history. Most officals who work the information and records centres in Turkey don't know the definition of ephemera and so these sources of information can't be properly evaluated in research processes. Ephemera which differences between definitions until today differ from cause uncertainty and confusion especially in Turkey. This is an important cause of uncertainty ephemera definition contains differences in the countries where important researches are carried out on the subject (England, New Zealand, United States, USA). Using ephemera in education and training procedures since primary education will strengthen permanent learning, will reveal contribution of information and records centres to educational services and the value of ephemera will be understood by the students. The purpose of this research is to clarify the definition of ephemera in Turkey and to mention access, to emphasize the importance of these sources of information especially in social and cultural life, to emphasize the value of historical resources, to present with examples in line with the curriculum the using of ephemera from primary to higher education, to add ephemera to the curriculum in different higher education programs and to include to ephemera in the curriculum in the field of Information and Records Management as a higher education program professionally.
