Abstract (EN)

The thesis titled "Tax Perception of Social Media Users: Twitter (X) Example" presents an analysis by examining tax-related perceptions through the social media platform Twitter(X). In the study, utilizing the Python programming language and the Pandas library, 65536 tweets were collected to create an Excel sheet, where the most frequently occurring meaningful words were identified. Among these words, the top 10 words are "tax", "amnesty", "raise", "labor", "salary", "money", "burden", "wage", "right", and "vote". Utilizing the MaxQDA data analysis program, sentiment analysis was conducted on the last 5000 tweets. The aim of the thesis is to pioneer research by examining the factors influencing tax ethics in Turkey, which has not been previously explored in this area. Visual representation of the most frequently used words through word clouds aims to provide insight. By examining the factors influencing tax ethics, the goal is to contribute to understanding and improving society's perception of taxation. This study aims to offer a new perspective on tax ethics research, providing a broader perspective on tax policies in Turkey and society's perspective on taxation. The thesis is considered an important step in understanding tax perceptions among social media users and fostering a conscious tax culture within society. Keywords: Social media, Tax, Tax morale, Tax perception, Tax compliance, Twitter (X), Voluntary tax compliance.
