Abstract (EN)
The privacy concept which is the private area of all ages people gains a new meaning with the internet and social media platforms entering our lives. It is possible to say that big data reaches crazy dimensions in a world that is constantly evolving, renewing itself and fed by data. The collection and processing of this data threatens the privacy of people. It is seen that this situation changes people's perceptions of privacy and adds the concept of "digital privacy" to their literature. The dimensions of the change are revealed with the use of social media applications that cause this change and development by trying to measure the digital privacy awareness of individuals. With the research findings, the survey study and the studies examined in the literature review, it is seen that the digital privacy awareness of individuals has improved over the years. Although individuals try to act with the awareness of their digital privacy, they can always be under threat with the shares they have made and the virtual identities they have created over the years. Because any data shared and stored on the internet cannot be lost or deleted. Another point that draws attention in the data obtained is that single, highly educated and 18-25 age groups give more importance to their digital privacy than other groups. As a result, in this period that face-to-face relations are replaced by social media relations, it would be appropriate that individuals to ask themselves " If the other party/person knew how much information about me and the people in my life, I wouldn't be bothered?" and review their profiles and sharing types according to their answers. However difficult it may be, not keeping unrecognized and untrusted people coming from the internet and social media in friend lists, not clicking on links from strangers, not to share about third parties and not keeping location services enabled, will contribute to the protection of individuals' digital privacy.
