Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, body positivity movement is examined under the perspective of biopolicy for to describe power's interventions and enforcements on body. The aim of this thesis is to examine the effects of the Body Positivity Movement from the perspective of power's enforcements which creates the possibility of resistance and struggle. For the purposes of the thesis, the texts on the website of the movement in Turkey, where users can produces content, which is addressed as www.bedenolumlama.wordpress.com, have been analyzed. The 10 contents determined by the simple random sampling method were analyzed with the content analysis method, which is a qualitative research method, through the MAXQDA 2022 data analysis program. Discourse analysis method was used to question the context of the concepts used in 10 texts. The contents were coded with the concepts determined in line with the main theme of the study, the words in the contents were scanned, and the obtained data were visualized and interpreted. According to the data obtained after the analysis of the contents, it has been realised that the advocates of the Body Positivity Movement discusses the movement under the concepts of 'ideal body', 'woman', 'gender', 'perceptions of beauty', 'imposition', 'freedom', 'equality', 'rights'. As a result of these findings, the discussion of the Body Positivity Movement in Turkey around the themes of equality, freedom and rights led to the conclusion that the movement created an area of struggle and resistance for its advocates.
