Abstract (EN)

The concept of post-truth is expressed as the way of understanding and interpreting the objective world in the context of one's own subjective reality, which is influenced by the socio-cultural environmental elements. Today, the post-truth era has become a heatedly debated topic thanks to the with the widespread of social media. In addition, today social media is the most important communication and information network for individuals. While these platforms, where users can easily share their thoughts and find the opportunity to express themselves, reinforce a sexist discourse based on gender, the language used includes references to a sexist style that fuels misogyny. Thus, the aim of the study is to analyze the tweets about gender on the events known as Mahsa Amini incidents in Iran within the framework of post-truth. In this study, the discourse of violence against women and gender inequality, post-truth contexts and structural mystifications were analyzed in line with the data obtained from Twitter. In the first part of the study, we discussed the literature on gender and its dimensions in social media then we presented the construction of the research method in the second part. In the last chapter, the research findings are given. Within the scope of the findings, using the MAXQDA 2020 software, following themes emerged: Islamophobia and Sexism, Politicization of the Female Body: Liberation/Secularism, Production of Sexist Masculine Language in Sharing, Sexism as the Object of Post-truth Production, The Female Body as a "Scapegoat": Ethnic and Religious Sexism, and Sexism and Misogyny as a Post-Truth Political Indicator.
