Abstract (EN)

We are living in a period where interaction between people is increasing, change and transformation are accelerating and there are extraordinary developments in the field of science and technology. Social media is one of the easiest ways to interact with other societies that affect this change and transformation. With social media, individuals can share new information at any time and have information about all the news and innovations in the world. The most open individuals to change and transformation in society are adolescents. With the increasing use of social media, adolescents' value judgments, attitudes and behaviors have started to change widely. This led to the need to examine the social and cultural effects of social media on adolescents. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of social media on adolescents and their perspective on social media. Questionnaires prepared to understand the opinions of adolescents on social media were applied to 671 students aged 14 to 19 studying in Yozgat city center. With this survey, it was tried to reveal how social media affects adolescents' sociocultural values and judgments. The data obtained from the survey application were analyzed with the Social Sciences Statistical Package Program (SPSS). According to the results, social media affects adolescents socially and culturally.
