The evaluation of the process of localization of social services: The case study of Metropolitan Municipality of Antalya

Local administrations which enable social policies to reach the public have assumed important duties in making the social policy activities available to the remotest areas and in promoting peace withn the society. The phenomenon of globalization which has evolved through time has prompted localization. In other words, it can be said that social municipalities come to one's mind when it comes to local administration. Social municipality is a concept that increases the social activities conducted by municipalities and that gives a number of new responsibilities to them. The aim of this study is to understand the social municipality concept and the social services of Metropolitan Municipality of Antalya and to identify the opinions of those who work in these services and those who benefit from the services with regard to such activities. For this reason, senior administrators in the municipality have been interviewed. In conclusion, a survey on social municipalities was condunted on the employees in three departments (Directorate General of Healts, and Social Services Department and Cultural and Social Affairs Head of Department) of the Metropolitan Municipality of Antalya. The survey included the problems faced by municipalities and those faced by people who were benefiting from the services and the share of expenses made by the municipality between the years of 2006 and 2014 was examined.
