Social capital and social inequality

The concept of social capital has become increasingly influential in our daily life. Although the effects of the social capital has began to be felt by the social scientists from the 19th century onwards, It was theorized in the last quarter of the 20th century. Even Putnam has said that social capital has been discovered at least six times over the course of 20th centuries, but no one has noticed. Social capital can be describe as interpret social networks as a fortune and provide specific benefits from it. It is clear that social capital has solved the basic sociopolitical problems just like education, health, work and sheltering needs, even though it is thought that there is harm to social justice because everyone does not have an equal wealth. In the first part of the study, social capital concept, development, types and measurement are examined. The main sociopolitical problems, like education, health, work and sheltering, are discussed at the end of the chapter. This section will also form the pattern of our research. The second part is completely divided into social inequality. After considering the concept of social inequality in all aspects, the approaches that fill the concept are examined. The last part of this section is devoted to the consequences of social inequality. In the last part of the study, the relationship between social capital and social inequality, which gives its name to the study, will be discussed with reference to the World Values Survey. After the first two sections, which examine the descriptive statistics on the basic socio-political issues we can observe the elements of social capital and social inequality, the direct effect of each element of social capital on education, health, work and shelter areas has been investigated and interpreted in last section.
