Measuring attendance of people who get help from social assistance and solidarity foundations at labor: Gebze sample

Poverty is a fact that has been encountered thoroughtout each pediod of the history. Especially with the accelerating of liberalizing and globalisation since 1980, poverty began to become a current issue. In this context, governments implemented a number of agency and institute in order to deal with poverty. In our country, Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations are the initiator of foundations that help poor people. Through these foundations, poor people can get more help in many different field. Although these helps make them work out, lazy and become dependent on them, that they meet an important need can not be ignored.This study?s purpose is to determine what attendances of people who get help from Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations at Labor are. Determining working situations of people who get help and looking for a job situations create topic of the study. Qualitative research approach was used in this study. In the first section of the study, poverty and social assistance concepts are handled. In the second section, social assistance implementations in Turkey are mentioned. In the third and last section, a servey was conducted to randomly chosen ones among the people who get help by Gebze Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation and results obtained from this survey were evaluated.It was determined that people who get help by Gebze Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation still keep looking for a job and continue working, work in unregistered informal sector jobs, most of them work in jobs that do not require quality and İşkur remain insufficient people who get help to have a job.
