On home management activities of the families which have low socioeconomical conditions according to the cife periods

Abstract (EN)
This research has been planned and carried out in order to determine whether family members who have how socio-economical conditions participation levels home management and whether their participation levels vary according to the family life periods. In addition, this research has been carried out in order to find out common features of families in each life period another objective of this research is suggesting new ideas about sharing home management activities according to better use of family sources, improvement of life standards. Also, it is aimed to determine the education need about home management. In this research, the age and education levels of the children in the families are basic for tetermining family life periods. In other words, the period I is defined as "beginning years (new married couples without children)". The Periods II is "extension years (families with children between the ages 0 (zero) and 6 (six) who have not started to primary school)" The period III is "active years (families with children between the age of 7 (seven) and 19 (nineteen), who are going to primary or secondary school)". The period IV is "active years (families with children who are 19 (nineteen) or older and are going to university)". The period V is "last (final) years (families which have married children or children who have left home)" A questionnaire which has two parts was applied to families. There were questions about personal information in the first part of the questionnaire, and in the second part, there were questions in order to find out about the ideas and attitudes about home management activities and responsibilities. It has been found out that the education levels of the parents are very low. 70, 9 % of the mothers are illiterate while 64, 4 % of fathers are illiterate. The rate of the mothers who have graduated form primary school is more than the rate of the fathers; it 173, %. However, the rate of the fathers graduated from high school, which is 17, 3 %, is higher than the mothers. When the life periods are taken info consideration, education levels of the parents vary. During the period IV, 32, 6 % of the mothers have graduated IVform primary school and during the period II and III, the rates of the fathers who have graduated from high school are 20, 3 % and 20, 8 %, which are more than the mothers. When the numbers of the family members are examined, 97, 5 % of the mothers in the families which have been examined during this research are house wives. It has also been found out that 60, 5 % of the families earn about 251-400 million TL in a month. When family in come is examined according to the family life periods, the result is that 64, 9 % of the families during the period II earn about 251-400 million TL in a month while 62, 0 % of the families during the period III and 52, 3 % of the ones during the period IV have and in come of 251-400 million TL a month, 66, 2 % of the families during the period II, 54, 3 % of the families during the period III and 58, 1 % of the families during the period IV think that their in come is not suffient for them. 45, 2 % of the parents decide on spending the family in com together. In addition, most of the parents make decisions about children education together. While the couples decide on buying food together during the period II and III, it has been found out that the mothers decide on the same subject during the period IV. When it comes to buying clothes, 35, 1 % of the parents during the period II and 29, 4 % of the parents during the period III make decisions together. However, during the period IV, the children participate in the decision-making process about buying clothes. As a result of this research, the parents decide on spending the family in come together during all of the family life periods. It has been found out that mostly the mothers do the daily cleaning of the houses (dusting, cleaning of bathrooms and toilets, sweeping and wiping floors, cleaning walls, windows, doors, furniture, carpets, etc.) the fathers are more active in painting the houses that the mothers during all of the life periods, home management activities like planning menu, cooking, ironing, setting and clearing the tables and washing the dishes are mostly done by the mothers. While the mothers do the daily shopping of the families most of the time, the weekly and monthly shopping's are mostly done by the father. 43, 2 % of the fathersduring the period II buy furniture by them selves. However, the parents buy them together during the period II and III. The source which the families need most is money, with the rote of 81, 7 %. secondly needed source is time, which has got a rate of 13, 1 %. Energy need follows this, with the rote of 5, 2 %, the need for money is more during the period III, with the rote of 84, 1 % than other periods. It was also determined that the couples need the same kind of knowledge and capability sources about home management, which are their parents and relatives. The families spend 94, 9 % of their in come on food ring all of the life periods. It has been found out that most of the activities regarding to leisure time activities, such as talking (chatting), visiting people, making various handicrafts are done by the mothers; the activities like reading and going to the cinema and the theater are done by the children and the activities, such as watching TV and listening to the radio are done by the fathers. During all of the family life periods, the most time-consuming activities are house cleaning and care. Cooking follows them. 78, 8 % of the families have complained about the fact that their in come is not enough for them and that they have economical problems. 27, 7 % of the families have complained about the tiring house works and tiredness 99, 3 % of the families have expressed that home management activities should be shared among the family members. Especially all of the families in the period II and III and 99, 8 % of the families in the period IV. VI
