Abstract (EN)

Suicide has been examined in many areas such as psychology, sociology, anthropology and medicine, from past to present, and different definition shave been made about suicide. Even though suicide may seem like an individual action, it cannot be considered in dependent of the society and social conditions in which it lives. From this point of view, the social media suicide relationship, which is the subject of this study, has been handled according to Durkheim's views. With the developing technology, it is determined that social media is used in suicidal behaviors today. It has brought various controversies over the social media platforms to share the experiences of people living with suicide and sharing them with millions of people. In this study, suicides shared on social media platforms both in Turkey and abroad, suicide notifications before social suicide and suicide events were evaluated. A total of eight terminated suicides were examined. When the images of the suicide people shared with their social media accounts were examined, it was seen that a significant number of them were unhappy before the suicide act. Nevertheless, it can be seen that people sharing their suicidal behavior or social media accounts before they can be a call for help or as a message to others.
