Leadership and management in sociological point of view: A survey about the appropriateness level to leadership and management qualifications of secondary education institutions principals in Ankara province

With this research, leadership roles of general lycee managers of secondary education institutions' which management status need are fixed (determined) in seven different qualifications, such as democratic, charismatic, in the relationship amongst people, in modern leadership theories, in meeting individuals needs, participant and being educational and has been widely studied with a sociologial view. In the study, it was aimed to find out if the appropriate levels to the definite qualifications of the general lycee directors who are in charge in middle education institutions in eight towns in the border of Ankara by carrying a survey out to the teachers. With the questions asked to the teachers, it has been tried to find out in which way the directors affected group life and structure and how they behaved towards teachers. In this study, in the survey taken which was used as a material to gather datum some experts' opinions were applied to see that the content is all right, material statistics were done to calculate its consistency and 84 teachers were applied to for its reliability calculation beforehand. The survey was carried out to 366 teachers amongst 4556 teachers in 67 schools. The rate for the surveys to return is 100 per cent. To be able to solve the data from the surveys, SPSS package programme was made good use of In the analysis, per cent, arithmetic, t-test were used. According to the results taken from the investigations, the general lycee managers in Ankara are found as democratic, charismatic, in the relationship amongst people, in modern leadership theories, in meeting individual neeeds, participant and being educational. According to the teachers gender there are no meaningful differences in their perception.
