The folklore policies and studies in Kirghizistan in the Soviet Union Period (1917?1958)

In this study, the folklore policies and activities in Kirghizistan during the Soviet Union period have been studied within the framework of Folklore and Ideology? relationship. First of all, the effect of folklore activities ? which developed in a ideological dimension with the effect of romantic idealism in the 19th century ? on the prominent social events of the 20th century have been stated to provide a broader scope to our study. How folkloric products are perceived in nationalist and communist ideologies within the framework of folklore and ideology relationship and the charateristics of folklore activities have been given in detail by comparison. Policy of nationalities, which is one of the basic policies showing continuity with its main lines in the Soviet Union of the Tsardom of Russia has been evaulated. In addition, language and folklore policies which are part of the cultural policies of the Soviet Union period and which are thought to be on the same axis as the policy of nationalities have been stated with their main lines. The folklore policies in the Soviet Union period Kirgizhistan and the activities carried out between 1917 ? 1958 parallel to these policies have been given in two seperate periods. The intervention of the ideology dominant in the Soviet Union period on the folklore products has been examplified and evaluated through texts. Within the new Soviet Person (Homo Sovieticus) the roots of which were established in the Lenin period and became clear in the Stalin period and the efforts to create a new Soviet identity within which all national identities would disappear ? folklore not only became on effective propaganda tool of this goal but also an important cultural element of this new identity which was tried to be created.
