Abstract (EN)
Abstract art, which is an important branch of modern art, has expanded the boundaries of the visual medium by expressing emotion, thought, and spatial perception through a dynamic unity of form, color, and texture. In this thesis, the aesthetic and conceptual aspects of abstract art and their influence on fabric design were discussed, and creative design experiments were carried out in this field. Within the scope of the study, the historical development and basic principles of abstract art were examined, and the application of these principles to textile design was analyzed. In addition, the relationship between art and textile design was examined, and the potential of abstract forms to provide new forms of expression in fabric, pattern, and textile products was investigated. The aim of this study is to investigate how abstract art can contribute to modern textile design by developing creative methods in the design process. Qualitative methods were used in this study. Eleven patterns were created within the study. They were digitally prepared as meterage patterns in Adobe Illustrator, and all patterns were printed on fabric consisting of 95% polyester and 5% elastane using the sublimation printing technique. These works were prepared by taking inspiration from the ups and downs of human experience. The matching of fabric quality with the printing technique has been the feature that distinguishes the works from others. As a result, the main designs created through the reflection of abstract art on textile design aim to bring a new perspective to textile design both conceptually and practically. The designs produced in this field lead to the emergence of creative products through art and practice by incorporating the aesthetic values of abstract art into modern textile design. The results obtained show how abstract art can be used as a source of inspiration in design and offer a different perspective to textile design. Therefore, this study aims to assist art and design researchers, students, educational institutions, fabric manufacturers, and designers in both academic and sectoral contexts. Keywords: Abstract Art, Fashion, Textile Design, Fabric Design, Art and Design Relationship
