Culture transfer by word teaching: Evaluation of Yunus Emre Institute's Turkish teaching set according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

The language that is the basic element of communication is also carrier of the culture. The cultural interaction with language gains more importance especially when learning or teaching a foreign language. Learners are also directly learning the reflections of culture at issue to language with the learned foreign language. These reflections can be easily seen in textbook which is the first benefited source of language learning and teaching. Yunus Emre Institute is an institution that provides services in various regions of the World with their own Turkish teaching set. This study is formed on the determination of items related to culture transfer in The Textbooks A1 and A2 of The Turkish Teaching Set of The Yunus Emre İnstitute. These cultural items are classified according to The Common European Framework Text. The study was conducted according to content analysis method from qualitative research methods. As a result of the evaluations made, it has been determined that Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Instruction Set A1 and A2 textbooks are in great agreement with the Common European Framework Text but some cultural items are heavy for A1-A2 language level, and that these items need to be simplified.
