Abstract (EN)
The new advances in interpreting technologies in the past years caused many technologies supporting interpreting process and help interpreters provide interpreting services. However, there is no comprehensive study on these technologies in Turkey. General purpose of this study is to try to describe how interpreters perceive interpreting technologies, which interpreting technologies they use in their interpreting process, and what they think about the effects of these technologies on their interpreting performances. Thus, this study aims to fill the gap in the literature and lead to subsequent studies. In this context, firstly, how the interpreters use technologies before, during, and after the interpreting is questioned, and then the interpreters' use of computer-assisted interpreting tools, note-taking technologies, and remote interpreting platforms are investigated. The theoretical background of the study is based on interpreting process models and their components of listening and analysis, production, memory, and interpreting strategies. A qualitative research method was used in the study and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 translators. The interpreters' perception and use of technologies are evaluated in the general evaluation and conclusion section, and suggestions are made for future studies.
