Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION AND AİM: It is known that sperm selection techniques in IVF treatments are aimed at separating good quality sperm.The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of sperm chip application and other sperm separation methods on IVF success. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of swim-up technique and sperm chip technique used in sperm preparation, the number of fertilized oocytes, the number of quality embryos and pregnancy outcomes. MATERIALS VE METHODS: Fort his purpose, we conducted a retrospective study using the file information of Sakarya University Training and Research Hospital IVF Center. While investigating the effect of sperm preparation methods on IVF success, two separate groups of 30 people with swim-up and sperm chips were evaluated. We also evaluated the roles of male and female age, female and male body mass index(BMI), semen volume, total and advanced motile sperm counts, and sperm morphology on IVF success. We calculated the ratio of the methods used to the number of pregnancies and statistically compared the patient data with each other. RESULTS: The study included 60 infertile cases who underwent IVF between January 2019 and August 2020; there was no statistically significant difference between the total amount of gonadotropin used in the treatment, sperm concentration, sperm morphology, total sperm motility and progressive sperm motility(P>0.05). There was no difference between the collected oocyte and MII oocyte numbers between the two groups. There were significant differences between the numbers of fertilized oocytes, 3rd and 5th day good quality embryos and 5th day frozen good quality embryos. There were no statistically significant differences in implantation and pregnancy rates between the groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: In this retrospective study, wich was conducted to investigate the effects of sperm preparation methods on IVF success; ıt was observed that the MAC technique did not contribute positively to implantation and pregnancy outcomes in ART treatments with male factor infertility indication, but it increased the fertilization rate, the number of quality embryos and the number of frozen fifth-day embryos after ICSI.
