Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of life satisfaction, hopelessness, perceived social support and depression on the substance use disposition of the students of Gazi University Faculty of Sport Sciences. The universe of our research consists of students studying at Gazi University Faculty of Sport Sciences. The sample was taken as a simple random sampling method (alpha) = 0.005, tolerance amount (d) = 0.05 and the number of people in the mass (N) = 935 (Gazi University Faculty of Sport Sciences). It has been identified. 422 students, 220 females and 202 males, were reached in the study. In the study, the data collection tool, the Tendency to Drug Use Scale, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, the Hopelessness Scale and the Depression Scale were used. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using SPSS (Windows 22.0) program. In the related literature, it is accepted as normal distribution that the results related to the kurtosis values of the variables are between +1.5 and -1.5 (Tabachnick ve Fidell, 2013), +2.0 and -2.0 (George ve Mallery, 2010). Analyzes were continued, assuming that the distribution was normal, as the sample was adequate according to the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem (Harwiki, 2013; İnal ve Günay, 1993; Johnson ve Wichern, 2002). Number, percentage, mean and Standard deviation were used as descriptive statistical methods in the evaluation of the data. The t-test was used to compare the quantitative continuous data between two independent group sand the One-way Anova test was used to compare the quantitative continuous data between more than two independent groups. After the Anova test, the Scheffe test was used as a complementary post-hoc analysis to determine the differences. Pearson correlation and regression analysis were use damong the continuous variables of the study. As a result of the research, it was determined that there was a positive relationship between life satisfaction and substance use tendency, hopelessness and substance use tendency, feelings and substance use tendency, loss of motivation and substance use tendency, expectations about future and substance use tendency. There was a negative relationship between the tendency to use and the social support perceived from friends and the tendency to use the substance. In addition, it was concluded that life satisfaction decreased the tendency to use substance and despair increased the tendency to use substance. It was determined that motivation loss, which is one of the sub-dimensions of hopelessness, was effective in this increase. Concerning the effect of perceived social support on substance use tendency, it was concluded that perceived social support from the family decreased the tendency to use substance, while it was found that perceived social support from private person and perceived social support from friend had no effect on substance use tendency. It was concluded that depression increased the tendency to use substance. It was concluded that substance use tendency was higher in women than men, whereas substance use tendency was found to be independent of age, marital status, department, average income and class.
