The relationship between conflict management styles and communication skills of students in the faculty of sports sciences

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between conflict management styles and communication skills of students studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences more closely. A total of 421 students studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences participated in the study. In the research, data collection tool was utilized by questionnaire technique. In the analysis of the data, percentage, frequency, t test, Kruskal Wallis H test and Pearson and Sperman were used. As a result of the research, when the students' perceptions of conflict management styles were examined, it was found that they used executive competition style, adaptation style, avoidance style, compromise style and cooperation style respectively. When the descriptive statistics of the sub-dimensions of conflict management styles were examined, it was concluded that there was a significant difference only between the executive competition dimension and the variables of gender, regular participation in sports, taking courses/courses on communication and father's education level. It is seen that students mostly prefer communication principles and basic skills in their perception of communication skills. When the sub-dimensions and descriptive statistics related to communication skills were examined, it was concluded that there was a significant difference only between the sub-dimension of communication principles and basic skills and the sub-dimensions of taking courses/courses related to communication and regular participation in sports. Finally, when the relationship between the sub-dimensions of communication skills and the sub-dimensions of conflict management styles was analyzed, it was concluded that all sub-dimensions of both scales had a significant positive relationship with each other.
